What is a check-up?

A check-up, or comprehensive medical examination, is familiar to many of us, especially those who grew up in the post-Soviet space, where it was called “dispanserizatsiya” (clinical examination). It is a scheduled check-up with verification of basic health indicators and tests for common diseases. For example, the Mantoux test, which could not be wetted for three days until the nurse measured the reaction at the injection site. This immunological test shows if there is a tuberculosis infection in the body and is performed on children as part of mandatory clinical examination.

Adults also need to undergo comprehensive examinations regularly to detect fatal diseases at early stages, should they arise.

Check-ups at the Israeli Medical Center are conducted for both adults and children and consist of a set of diagnostic tests and examinations performed within one program. 6. Reproductive check-up “I will be a mother”: Blood tests, hormonal studies, consultation with a gynecologist, ultrasound diagnostics.
7. Reproductive check-up for couples (add-on for husband): Blood tests, consultation with a urologist, ultrasound diagnostics.
8. Children’s Preventive check-up: Blood tests, consultation with a pediatrician, ultrasound diagnostics.
9. Check-up before IVF (Full package): Blood tests, infection tests, hormonal studies, specialist consultations, ultrasound diagnostics.

Patient instructions for preparing for tests

1. Tests are taken on an empty stomach before 11:00 AM.
2. Do not smoke for 2 hours, do not consume alcohol for 24 hours.
3. Take tests on ‘dry days’ (likely meaning non-menstrual days for women).
4. For 48 hours, do not consume foods high in fat, salty, sour foods, carrots, beets.
5. Avoid stress, do not play sports, and avoid physical exertion.
6. Do not take medications 12 hours before the test.
7. Perform hygienic procedures.
8. Semen analysis is taken strictly after 2-3 days of abstinence, without visiting saunas, heavy physical exertion, alcohol, fatty and spicy food, long sedentary car trips the day before.

Procedure for taking tests during check-ups

1. The patient takes blood tests on the -1st floor in the procedure room.
2. Then, a general urine test is taken (red blood cells should not enter the urine).
3. After that, in the examination room, the nurse takes gynecological smears (if included in the program).
4. Then the patient undergoes ultrasound examinations on the 1st floor in the ultrasound diagnostics doctor’s office.
5. A minimum of 2 days later (if a Pap smear was taken, then after a week) after taking the tests, the patient books an appointment with a specialist within the program: gynecologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, urologist (initial consultation no less than 30 minutes). The specialist conducts an examination to interpret the test results and prescribe treatment if necessary.
6. You must book the appointment on the day you take the tests.

Test results

• Blood tests are prepared within 1 day. The result is sent via SMS.
• Smears and cytology are prepared within up to 5 days (if included in the program). The result is sent via SMS.
• Specialist conclusions and ultrasound diagnostics — after the doctor signs the conclusion. The result is sent via SMS.
